False Hips Cotton
False hips are the lady's 18th century undergarment used to create the desired wide silhouette. Sometimes called pocket hoops our false hips are made with cotton and boning, are finished inside and out with no raw edges. (In the 19th Century they were called "panniers" which is French for "basket".) The pockets/baskets are also used as storage! The wide silhouette reached its maximum width in the 1740s and narrower versions were worn during the Revolutionary War period. These are appropriate from about 1760 - 1780. One size fits all. Fabric is 100% cotton. Choose solid white, or patterned. Patterns vary.

Frock Coat Hunting
This Rifleman's Hunting Frock is a great value! Length: about 36" long M, 38" long L, 40" long XL, and 42" long XXL. Patterned after the drawings shown in Sketchbook '76 and The Frontier Rifleman, of fustian (linen/cotton blend) cloth. A nice weight, natural colored fabric that is pre-washed and suitable for dyeing if so desired. Each frock has an open front, cape and now even has pre- pulled fringe! Loose-fitting and with plenty of length, this makes a perfect outer garment for re-enactors of the mid 18th century all the way through the Fur Trade. No other button choice. Not available in custom lengths or colors. While this is not a custom-made garment and is not constructed by The Quartermaster General, it is a good hunting frock for the money. Frock Pullover Wool
Patterned after an original documented in The Frontier Rifleman. The fabric is 80% wool, dyed a natural, grey-brown or walnut color. The pullover runs large and is quite comfortable with gussets under the arms to allow plenty of room for movement, or for wear over other layers of clothing. The extra length will keep you warmer than shorter garments and it is nicely fringed at the collar and along the bottom edge, with a double row of decorative fringe at the cuffs. Available in M, L, XL, and XXL. This item is not made by the Quartermaster General so we cannot customize it. We own one of these wool shirts and we washed it in cool water then fluffed dry on a no-heat setting. That made it soft, fluffy, sweet-smelling, and removed all of the wrinkles. As with any wool, if you choose to wash it be careful that you do not shrink it, because we can not be responsible if you do!
price: $49.99

Gaiters Wool
Gaiters were a constant in colonial military or frontier dress. Introduced in 1701 during the Queen Anne’s War, they became more essential during the French and Indian War when frontier campaigns and exposure to Native Americans tribes became more prevalent. The book Daily Life of the Old Colonial Frontier describes the private soldier during this time as wearing (among other things) “..one pair of gaiters made of canvass, one water-resistant pair made of linen canvass and blackened with tar, and one pair of black woolen cloth”. These gaiters are made from black wool (with center front and center back seams), measure 24” long and are enclosed on the outer edge by white bone buttons. The top leg opening is about 18". No customization available because we do not make these ourselves. Good starter gaiters. Temporarily on back order.

Tricornes, tricorns or tri-corns, (more correctly called a "cocked hat") were by far the most popular and widely distributed European hat of the 18th century. Evolved from the classic, wide-brimmed hats used in Spain, these brims were eventually turned up to funnel the rain water in wet areas.
